Introduced in 2026 by several cantons (Geneva from 1 January via SIG, Neuchâtel from 1 March), this battery storage subsidy fills a gap: as solar buyback tariffs drop, local storage becomes the key to profitability.
Amount: CHF 130/kWh of capacity, for batteries up to 15 kWh (SIG Geneva). Eligibility: owners with existing or new photovoltaic systems. Cumulative with Pronovo one-time remuneration for a full PV + battery setup.
Strategic value: stronger self-consumption, independence from price hikes, less penalized feed-in, improved overall 20-year profitability.
